Canary Wharf

Tim Spencer worked full-time on the Canary Wharf project from 1988 until the demise of the property development firm, Olympia and York in 1992. During this time the first phase of the project was completed but only part occupied.

Tim then worked to help secure the 1992 Second Building Agreement and the Heron Quays planning consent that dramatically increased the scale of the Canary Wharf development and incorporated the Jubilee Line Extension. He continued to provide marketing support to the various companies who controlled the Wharf during the mid-1990’s.

The arrival of the Jubilee Line in 1999 heralded the full success of the project. The workforce quickly increased from 25,000 to 55,000. Today, it numbers over 120,000 and the Wharf is now a business district of worldwide repute.
